Points of Pride

Agricultural Learning Goes Mobile

Our students had a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on agricultural science through the Georgia Ag Experience mobile classroom, a program brought to us by the Georgia Farm Bureau. Featured in a FOX 5 news segment, this interactive learning event introduced students to the vital role of agriculture in Georgia’s economy and the diverse careers it offers. Principal Marcia Payton and fifth-grade student Cori Smith represented our school in the spotlight, emphasizing the importance of exposing students to real-world STEM applications and Georgia’s largest industry.

Impact: Increases student awareness of STEM careers in agriculture and supports real-world, interdisciplinary learning.

Breaking Barriers in STEM and Sports: Basketball & Coding Clinic with the Atlanta Dream

In a first-of-its-kind event in Clayton County, Michelle Obama STEM Elementary partnered with the Atlanta Dream on September 5, 2024, to host a basketball and coding clinic for girls. Using Microsoft MakeCode, students explored how STEM integrates with sports through coding and technology applications.

“We are incredibly proud to lead in STEM education while uplifting girls in STEM,” said Mr. Antonio Ellis, STEM Coordinator.

Impact: Promotes gender equity in STEM, boosts student engagement, and shows students how science and tech are embedded in real-world experiences like sports.
